Why We Exist

Food is one of life's greatest pleasures. It brings families together, marks celebrations, supports recovery, fuels adventure and creates memories that last a lifetime.

Yet for millions of people living with food allergies, coeliac disease, medical conditions, religious requirements or specialist dietary needs, something as simple as eating can become a source of anxiety rather than enjoyment.

Too often, people are excluded from experiences that others take for granted — travelling with confidence, sharing a family meal, choosing something from a supermarket shelf, recovering in hospital or simply enjoying lunch with friends.

We believe it shouldn't be that way.

Special Dietary Meals Group was created to help change that.

For more than fifteen years our team has been developing specialist food solutions across aviation, healthcare, retail and foodservice.
Many of us have spent our careers creating free-from food. Some of us rely on it every single day. We understand that when food has to be safe, it should never stop being delicious.

Through our family of specialist brands, we develop products, programmes and services that make food safer, more inclusive and more effective for the people who need them most.

Across airlines, private aviation, airport lounges, trains, ferries, cruise lines, hospitals, care homes, assisted living, retail and foodservice, we work alongside our partners to remove barriers and create greater confidence, choice and dignity through food.

Every organisation serves people with dietary needs.

Our role is to help make sure nobody feels forgotten.

Our Purpose

To improve lives through safer, more inclusive and more effective food.

We believe dietary requirements should never limit education, employment, travel, healthcare or everyday life.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the world with confidence, knowing that safe, delicious food is available wherever they are.

Whether travelling on an aircraft, staying in an airport lounge, recovering in hospital, living in a care environment, shopping at retail or dining away from home, everyone deserves access to food they can trust — food prepared with care, backed by expertise and served with dignity.

Our Vision

Our ambition is to become the world's leading specialist food group focused on dietary requirements, allergen management and health outcome nutrition.

By bringing together expertise from chefs, clinicians, dietitians, nutritionists, food scientists and people living with dietary conditions themselves, we are building a connected family of brands that improves access to specialist food wherever people live, learn, work, travel and receive care.

We don't simply want to manufacture products.

We want to create food that people genuinely enjoy eating.

We want to build brands that customers trust without hesitation.

We want specialist nutrition to become something people choose because it is exceptional, not something they accept because they have no alternative.

We also believe our responsibility extends beyond the food itself.
We will continue to work with industry, healthcare providers, governments and regulators to improve standards, encourage better legislation and help make eating away from home safer and more inclusive for everyone.

Looking Forward

The future of food is becoming increasingly personal. Advances in nutrition science, allergen management, healthcare and wellbeing are creating opportunities to improve lives through better food than ever before.

As awareness grows and dietary needs become more visible, we believe specialist nutrition will move from niche to mainstream.
That future will require collaboration between healthcare professionals, caterers, manufacturers, retailers, travel operators and policymakers.

We are committed to investing in innovation, partnerships and specialist expertise that help organisations deliver safer food, better health outcomes and greater inclusion.

Because better food doesn't simply nourish people.

It gives them confidence.

It creates opportunity.

And it allows more people to participate fully in everyday life.

Driving Positive Change

We believe our responsibility extends far beyond developing exceptional food.

Every day we see the difference that safe, inclusive and nutritious food can make to people's confidence, wellbeing and quality of life. We also see where systems, standards and legislation can do better.

That's why we are prepared to challenge convention, share our expertise and contribute to the conversations that shape the future of specialist nutrition.

We work alongside leading charities, healthcare professionals, clinicians, dietitians, industry bodies, regulators, lawmakers and commercial partners across the world to help improve food safety, allergen management and access to specialist nutrition.

Sometimes that means supporting better education.

Sometimes it means developing new technologies or standards.

Sometimes it means advocating for change where existing systems no longer meet the needs of the people, they are intended to protect.

We are not afraid to lead those conversations.

Our ambition is not simply to respond to change.

It is to help create it.

Because every improvement in standards, legislation and understanding has the potential to make life safer, more inclusive and more enjoyable for millions of people living with dietary requirements around the world.

Leading Through Innovation

We believe the best ideas should inspire progress.

As awareness of specialist nutrition, allergen management and inclusive food continues to grow, we welcome the increasing focus on improving standards across our industry. Better awareness ultimately benefits the millions of people who rely on specialist food every day.

Original thinking inevitably attracts imitation. We see that as confirmation that the industry is moving in the right direction.

However, meaningful innovation is never defined by a logo, a product or a marketing message. It is built over years of experience, rigorous governance, scientific understanding, continuous learning and genuine collaboration with the people who depend on specialist food every day.

Innovation without governance is simply imitation.

For us, leadership means continually asking how we can make food safer, more inclusive and more enjoyable. It means investing in research, developing new systems, listening to healthcare professionals, working alongside charities, regulators and industry partners, and never standing still.

We welcome healthy competition because it drives higher standards. But lasting progress is built on more than following ideas that already exist. It comes from the courage to challenge convention, the commitment to keep improving and the willingness to lead conversations that shape the future.
Our focus has never been on following the market. It has always been on helping define it.

Because every improvement in standards, every new idea and every barrier removed has the potential to make life safer, more inclusive and more enjoyable for millions of people around the world.
